Award

OK, this is not something I would usually do and I know I said I wouldn't...but... I'm going to ask you to vote for me...

Why?

Because the prize for the Most Fascinating Blog - Librarian category, is a $200 restaurant voucher and, should I win, I can then pass it on to one of you.

The voucher, from what I understand, is only valid in North America, so I figure instead of sending it to one of my friends in the US, I'll use it as a giveaway here...

What do you think?

There are 93 nominees in all and all you have to do is click on the "Fascinating Blogger" award on the right hand side of this page and it will take you to the section where you can vote.

Just scroll down the page until you find me and then click...voting closes on 6th March.

Let's see how we go huh? It'd be pretty funny if a non-librarian blog won the Librarian category.

Resolutions?

I'm not a New Year Resolutions type of girl. Instead, what I like to do is set myself tasks...not to lose weight or get fit etc. I like to give myself projects to achieve and my projects this year are more renovations and refurbishments of some old furniture.

So on that note, I'd like to introduce you to my latest footpath find.....

Taa Daa.....

It was sitting all by it's lonesome a few houses down from Number 10, so MONT went and got it for me.

Not sure how I plan to tackle it yet because the top is a laminate and after peeling a bit of it off, it was pretty rough underneath...even too rough (methinks) for a heavy sand and a coat of white paint.

Anyhooo we'll see. It will be sanded back, given a good undercoat and maybe the top will have to be replaced, which should be pretty easy seeing those curly corner thingies are screwed on.

It's a strange little piece, but will look better with a nice coat of paint... or three...

Luckily I took the photos of this a couple of days before our cameras were "pinched".

We're still on holidays, so Amanda, I have not forgotten that you gave me an award a few days back ... I've just been a bit distracted with our episode at home and now being at the beach.

Yellow drawers update

Meet the new/old addition to Number 10.

The old yellow chest of drawers I found on the footpath last year have been given the Number 10 treatment.

This is how they used to look. Not very attractive but lots of potential.

I sanded them back and gave them a couple of coats of undercoat

I bought some trim to hide the gap that would show once we removed the damaged top.

...and this is how it looks on the drawers now

I filled and sanded all the holes in the drawer fronts and MONT drilled some new ones for the new knobs.

It's still sitting on our back deck at the moment until it gets a top coat and I find a home for it inside.
I'm so happy with the way it turned out...amazing what a little elbow grease, a coat of white paint and some new knobs can achieve.

Coffee Table - Before & After

Remember that old coffee table base I found lying on the side of the road recently?

Not very attractive huh?

Well, here she is now.

I scrubbed and hosed her down in the garden, tightened up all the screws to make her a little more stable.... then gave her a good sand and 2 coats of undercoat, before a top coat of white satin.

I bought a ready made timber top for her and MONT used his router to give it a nice edge

I'm liking it....not too "shabby chic" distressed...just about right for Number 10 I think. So, there you have it.

 Before

After.

I still have to coat the top. I was thinking of white washing it, but MONT likes it natural...so I'll give it a couple of coats of tung oil and that should do it. It's going to look very nice sitting on the back deck.

PS. Yes, that is our new bedroom and no, we're not in it yet. But that's all about to change tonight. We finished the skirting boards and architraves yesterday afternoon and we start moving furniture in there as soon as MONT gets home. YIPPEEEE!

Good bye lounge room, hello bedroom!

Party Time ! !

I would have to be one of the luckiest (and richest) people in the entire world ! !

In the past week alone, I've received emails telling me I've won millions of dollars in various postcode, suburb, email and Microsoft lotteries....Not to mention the people, mostly bank executives from Nigeria and various parts of Africa, imploring me to contact them so they can pass on gazillions of dollars they have left over from their institutions.

Then there's the cancer stricken Nanna from the UK who wants to leave me all of her money as well...I mean, is that the most amazing and luckiest thing you've ever heard of?

Yep, I'll be soaking in it soon...

Let's party people!
