First of all...I'm sorry that I've been MIA for quite a long time, but we've been dealing with some sad family news these past couple of weeks.
MONT's elderly dad passed away. He was 97, a former POW and a really lovely man.
MONT's OK, but emotions are still a little raw as he spent the past few months making sure he was at the nursing home to help feed his Dad most nights.
So there you have it. I'll be back soon with some better news
Take care everyone

ReplyDeleteOh Lesley, I'm so sorry to hear about your family's sad news. Take care x
ReplyDeleteMy condolences to you. I hope MONT is okay. x
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about MONT's father Lesley. MONT was very lucky to have him for so long, and for him to have MONT to come and visit each night.
ReplyDeleteTake care of you both.
xoxo
Dear Lesley...We have a friend just turned 90 who is a Changi POW....he was recently a guest of the Japanese Government as some sort of atonement for those wasted years and mistreatment. He was so pleased to be able to make the trip and receive the apology even though his health was failing. I have such great respect for all our fighting men...those serving, those who did serve and those brave men who died for their country. May Mont's father rest in peace x
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone, I've shown MONT your lovely comments and he's been really touched by them
ReplyDeleteWhite Dove, I've heard about the trips to Japan for former Changi POW's. Mont's dad was a POW in Germany, but never spoke of his time there, in fact refused to accept his medals until a few years ago...very sad
