Have you ever.....

...looked in the mirror one day and wondered where that girl had gone?

I did yesterday when I came across this old photo while cleaning out a drawer. I was just 24 when it was taken at a dinner dance. Remember those?

I still remember the dress I was wearing too. It was all plummy and purply pinks with some black for contrast.

I looked at it and it sort of made me feel a bit "old". Then I thought, nah, you're only as old as you feel and I still feel 24.

  1. You were very pretty! But I imagine you are STILL gorgeous. I have been playing the "what happened to me" game lately and my daughter is not amused. I feel like I should still look like I did 30 years ago. I wouldn't want to look plastic (surgery), but I would like to look like I feel inside.

  2. Teresa, It can be a bit demoralising when what you see doesn't match how you feel. Still, it's the same old me. I just have to get on with it and not spend too much time looking back.

  3. It makes me feel better that I am not the only one that feels this way - sometimes. Yes, I need to "get on with it" too. PS I *know* you are still gorgeous. Ask your husband!!!

  5. Lesley....it's when you look in the mirror and start to think you look a bit younger that you need to worry. That's what happened to me a few months back...my eyes seemed brighter... my skin less wrinkled. You guessed it...the old eyesight was giving out...hence my visit to the optometrist, and everyting is no longer as it seemed! As for your photo....you look gorgeous...and it couldn't have been all that long ago surely!

  6. Oh White Dove, I wish it were only a short time ago, but even though I remember it like it were just last week, it was quite a few years ago. I know what you mean about the eyesight though...mine's been getting blurrier and blurrier over the past few years and I keep having to get stronger and stronger lenses.

  7. I love looking back at old photos - such fun :) You have a really pretty face - now I can picture who is sitting on the other side of the computer at 'Number 10' :)

  8. Looking through old photo albums is priceless, I will have to find a photo of mine as we nearly had the same hair :)

Oddly enough I have spent all day with major flashbacks as we have been blasting music from the eighty's. How is it I cant remember what I did yesterday but I could sing the words to songs I haven't heard for 20-30 years?( and jump around like loony all day)
